The Seven World Wonders of the Ancient World
1. Great Pyramid of Giza
This world wonder is the only one to survive to the present day. It is 230.4 m in width and 146.5 m in height.
2.Temple of Artemis at Ephesus
This Temple was a Greek temple located in Ephesus (in present day, near Selcuk in Turkey). It was rebuilt three times.
3.Hanging Gardens of Babylon
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon is the only wonder whose locations isn't known. Some sources suggest that the gardens were built by King Nebuchadnezzer II at around 600 BC others speculate that they were purely mythical. The Gardens are said to be located in the centre of ancient Babylon, which, in present day, is near Hillah in Iraq.
4.Lighthouse of Alexandria
The Lighthouse is said to have been built between 247 BC and 280 BC, by the Prolemaic Kingdom. With 137 m in height the Lighthouse of Alexandria is one of the highest structures in the world, made by man.
5.Statue of Zeus at Olympia
The Statue was built by Phidias a greek sculptor in around 435 BC.
6.Mausoleum at Halicarnassus
The 45 m high Mausoleum was built for a persian "satrap", located in Halicarnassus (in present day Bodrum,Turkey).
7.Colossus of Rhodes
The 30 m tall statue, made of bronze and iron, of Helios (the greed God of the sun) which was built in 280 BC stood at the habour od Rhodes.
